Are Court Records Public in Spartanburg County?

The South Carolina Freedom of Information Act classifies most court records as public records. Spartanburg County District Court Records

The South Carolina Judicial System is divided into four tiers. The Circuit Court of Spartanburg County acts as its court of general jurisdiction. Criminal record requests will cost a non-refundable fee of $25 per search. An additional $1 fee is added to online requests. Mailed payments are accepted in business checks, certified checks, cashier's checks, or money orders only. Charitable organizations that meet requirements set by law are eligible for a reduced fee of $8.

Under South Carolina law, only immediate family and their legal representatives can access official Spartanburg County death records.
